Galena Consultants was started in 1994 by Stephen N J Wade who had previously been employed in the education sector as a college lecturer in IT, and prior to that, a position as business systems manager with a leading Isle of Wight computer company.

After completing an honours degree in Economics in 1978, he gained valuable experience working for an Island Chartered Accountant where he specialised in computerised incomplete records accounting using the first computer accounts packages on early personal computers.

Several years of commercial experience in the computer industry followed, where he gained a wide ranging knowledge of many areas of Information Technology, including PC setup, installation, training, software configuration and started to become involved with bespoke program development especially in the area of computerised accounting systems and database development. Eventually, as business systems manager, he was responsible for all aspects of the client facing business from taking initial specifications and requirements to supervising installation and training on large projects.

When the opportunity arose to join the staff of the newly formed Isle of Wight ITEC Centre, the flagship new program developed by the government of the time to promote and develop IT skills for young people, he became a lecturer and trainer, teaching academic and vocational IT skills including the new (at the time) City and Guilds 726 certificate in Information Technology. Other courses taught included BTEC IT modules and the Institute of Management courses at Higher National Certificate and Higher National Diploma levels at the Isle of Wight College of Arts and Technology.

Stephen Wade still provides the majority of the services of the company personally, although we now have a number of key personnel to provide other specialist services when required. Over the last ten years our client base has grown and diversified, and we now have clients all over the South of England.
